Multiple sample type collection made simple

Hurdle’s test kits cover home blood testing, saliva collection, stool, urine, and a range of swabs for relevant locations. What happens if a test requires a combination of different sample collection types?

Test kits requiring more than one sample collection type aren’t as common as single sample type kits. Some biomarker panels, however, have a range of requirements that cannot be processed from a single sample collection type. A simple example is the requirement of different anticoagulation tubes for some blood panels – where a glycosylated heamoglobin (HbA1c) requiring in most cases an EDTA (purple top) tube is combined with other biomarkers like a lipid panel that requires a serum separator tube (SST, yellow top). Other test panels requiring multiple collection devices include sexual health testing that combines location specific swabs, urine samples, and sometimes blood samples as well.

With a more complex range of samples it is vital for the patient to easily be able to follow instructions with minimal room for error, and for the laboratory to be able to process each sample and unite the biomarker results under the patient’s requested testing panel.

Traditionally, health testing companies and laboratories require lab request forms to be manually filled out. Hurdle has done away with complexity by uniting biomarkers under a single barcode, attached to each collection device, and easy to scan and process at the laboratory. Results are collated in Hurdle’s market leading diagnostics tech platform and passed through quality control and assurance checks before release to the patient.

Hurdle’s diagnostics-as-a-service (DaaS) capabilities support diverse use cases, companies, organisation, and patient needs. With multi-sample collection we can create the ideal patient experience for home collection of complex testing panels.
